Bringing the two worlds of Bollywood and Hollywood movies together, I am happy to write about something a little different this time! Hello, readers. It is a pleasure to provide updates about one of the latest events I was involved with.
I hosted and moderated an in-person conversation with the CEO of Bollywood Hollywood Production Prashant Shah, who visited campus for a meet-and-greet and to provide insights on the world of media, marketing, and movies!
Mr. Shah is a highly skilled professional in content production and is known as the face behind the production of several famous Bollywood movies. Besides excelling in several content-related industries, Shah has been leading Bollywood Hollywood Production Inc. in California for more than 20 years. He is renowned for one of the most famous Bollywood movies ever, “My Name Is Khan,” where he worked closely in the movie’s production.
Mr. Shah’s most recent movie is Jungle Cry. He has also been involved in such titles as Ra.One, Ekk Main Aur Ek Tu, Dostana, and Ta Ra Rum Pum, among others.
The conversation revealed exciting stories about Mr. Shah that revolved around his everyday lifestyle, content, media, and marketing. It was an incredible opportunity for those who wish to learn what this industry looks like and how real-time challenges are solved. The Department of Communication, Film, and Media Studies was excited to display this relationship between Bollywood and Hollywood movies and bring forth what the two worlds of big movie productions look like.
Tom Garrett, chair of the Department of Communication, Film, and Media Studies, along with Paul Falcone, director of studio operations and media production, were excited to support the in-person conversation and delve deeper into this informative event with Mr. Shah, whom they have known for decades.
As Bollywood Hollywood Production Inc.’s CEO, Mr. Shah believes that “Hollywood does not make movies; it markets them.” The in-conversation uncovered more such thoughts and beliefs by the man himself. The Department of Communication, Film, and Media Studies, along with the College of Arts and Sciences and the Pompea College of Business sponsored this opportunity to help a large group of students understand their career paths in the industries of media, marketing, and movies.
Following the conversation, the Department of Communication, Film, and Media Studies hosted a screening of “My Name Is Khan,” followed by “Jungle Cry.”
Mr. Shah believes media and leadership are crucial industry elements, and he was excited to visit the University of New Haven.
“Talking about media and movies always excites me,” he said. “Indeed, meeting with new students interested in being part of this industry is something I look forward to. The media landscape continues to change for a better evolution while being forward-thinking and acknowledging leadership. The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority, and having a purpose.”

Sofia Vergara is living her best single life as her estranged husband, Joe Manganiello, steps out with actress Caitlin O’Connor.
Vergara, 51, shared a cheeky throwback photo via her Instagram Story on Thursday, September 14, hours after Manganiello, 46, was seen leaving Gold’s Gym in Venice California with O’Connor, 33.

“Colombia,” Vergara wrote alongside the snap, which showed her wearing only a thong bikini bottom with a bouquet covering her bare chest. The actress also added a “#TBT” sticker to the post.

Manganiello, meanwhile, chatted with O’Connor outside the gym on Thursday before the pair drove off together in a Cadillac SUV, according to photos obtained by Page Six. The outing came less than two months after Manganiello filed for divorce from Vergara. The former couple announced their separation days before the actor filed the official paperwork.
“We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” Manganiello and Vergara said in a joint statement in July. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”
Vergara filed her own set of legal documents in August, requesting that the court uphold her and Manganiello’s prenuptial agreement. The documents state that the actress is seeking to maintain her earnings from before and during her relationship with Manganiello.
After the duo’s split made headlines, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that Vergara and Manganiello had “been living separate lives for about a year” before they called it quits. “She would rather go out with friends and he would rather stay home, so they wouldn’t spend a lot of time together,” the insider explained.
While Vergara has not yet been seen spending time with anyone new, she has joked about being open to new romantic connections. During an August episode of America’s Got Talent, contestant Ahren Belisle, who has cerebral palsy and is nonverbal, flirted with Vergara during his stand-up act by using a text-to-speech app to instruct his service dog to “fetch me” girlfriend “Sofia Viagra.”
Vergara laughed at the intentional mispronunciation of her name and called out: “I’m here! I’m single!”

The Colombia native’s fellow judge Howie Mandel has also attempted to be her wingman on the reality competition series. During the Wednesday, September 13, episode of AGT, Vergara hooked herself up to a lie detector machine and answered several questions before Mandel, 67, asked, “Do you see anyone in the audience that you’re interested in?”
Vergara opted to plead the fifth by ripping off the lie detector’s arm cuff and walking back to her seat at the judges’ table.
“That’s it!” she yelled playfully.
