The festival of Giaravahin Sharif is celebrated to pay respect to Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani, the respected ancient Muslim saint of Baghdad. Every Year, on the 11th day of the month of Rabi Al Thani in Hijri Calander, the festival of Giaravahin Sharif is celebrated.

The Eleventh Sharif festival is a very important occasion, a day dedicated as a tribute to Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani. People also dedicate him for the teachings imparted by him. Hazrat Jilani Saheb was not only a respected Sufi saint but also a well known teacher, and a great speaker. He was also very respected in the societ for his honesty.

On this day, while celebrating the festival, people are told about the views of Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani by the Ulema and clerics. People organize many discussion programmes through out the world to inform the people about their teachings and the great work done by Jilani Saheb.

Every year, on the 11th day of the month of Rabi Al Thani in Hijri Calander, this festival of Xi Sharif is celebrated, remembering the great deeds of Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani on the occasion of his death anniversary. In fact, in a way, it is a tribute to him for the good deeds and his work for development of the society.

The festival of Eleventh Sharif is celebrated in memory of the great Islamic Gnani and Sufi saint Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani. His lived in the then Welan province, which is currently in Iran. Hazrat Abdul Qadir Jilani is also believed to have been a relative of prophet Mohammad Saheb. He was a good-minded man. He influenced many people with his personality and teachings.

Abdul Qadir Sufi was also known as the founder of Islam. He was born on March 17, 1078 in the state of Gilan, which is presently located in Iran, and the Jilani in his name represents his birthplace. Every year the first day of Ramadan is celebrated as his birthday and the 11th day of Rabi Al Thani of every year is celebrated as the festival of Eleventh Sharif on his death anniversary.

The Eleventh Sharif is a major festival celebrated by the Sunni Muslim section. Which is celebrated in memory of Abdul Qadir Jilani, the preacher of Islam and a great saint. He is believed to have been a descendant of the Prophet Mohammed because his mother was the vansaj of Imam Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammed. He is also known as the man who revived Islam because he influenced many people through his liberal personality and Sufi ideology.
